Fairleigh Housing
Auckland

Utilizing natural volcanic stone from the site, the housing is sensitive to the history of the family and the land it resides on.
Large pohutakawas frame the naturally weathered timber and volcanic stone courtyard housing.

The clients’ brief was to design a garden home in Auckland which channeled the comfort of a Coromandel bach lifestyle.
The site contains 3 two-storey dwellings; 1 residence for the couple nearing retirement and 2 rental investments behind, to provide income for the family.

Glazed living spaces extend into landscaping; creating garden pavilions.
Punctuated by full height windows , the housing connects residents to green space. Exposed timber rafters and interior ply are a nod to New Zealand bach culture.
